Have you ever wanted so badly to be accepted by others that you found yourself working for their love and approval? Sadly, many of us bring that same mindset into our relationship with God.

I know I do at times. I find myself trying to earn God's love and acceptance, thinking, "If I could just get everything right, be flawless, or be perfect, then I would be enough."

As human beings, we often struggle to accept the truth that God loves us just as we are. There is nothing we can do—and nothing we could ever do—to earn His love and acceptance. You cannot earn God's favor through your own efforts. He created you and loved you long before you ever knew Him.

So when you feel discouraged, feel like you're falling behind, or find yourself comparing your life to someone else's, remember this: God's love is not based on performance. He loves each of us completely and unconditionally.
